Directed by James Cameron, Titanic is a romantic disaster film based on the tragic sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912. The story follows Jack Dawson, a poor artist, and Rose DeWitt Bukater, a young aristocratic woman engaged to the wealthy but controlling Cal Hockley. They meet aboard the Titanic during its maiden voyage and quickly fall in love, despite the barriers of class and social expectations. As their romance blossoms, the ship tragically strikes an iceberg and begins to sink. Amid the chaos, Jack and Rose struggle to survive as the once “unsinkable” ship goes down. Jack ultimately sacrifices himself to save Rose, who is later rescued. The story is framed by present-day scenes in which an elderly Rose recounts her memories to a team searching for a valuable necklace, the “Heart of the Ocean,” lost in the wreck. Titanic blends historical tragedy with a deeply emotional love story, highlighting themes of freedom, sacrifice, and the fleeting nature of life.
