At just 16 years old, Shahid Khan left Pakistan for America with only $500 in his pocket — everything his family could give him.
His first night in the United States, he slept at the YMCA for $2. The next day, he got a job washing dishes at a small restaurant for $1.20 per hour.

Every single day, from 4 PM until midnight, young Shahid stood at the sink, scrubbing plates and greasy pans. Then he’d go back to his room, exhausted, and study until 2 or 3 in the morning.
Many would have given up.
But Shahid didn’t.
He graduated from the University of Illinois with an engineering degree. A few years later, he borrowed money, started a small bumper company, and eventually bought the very company where he once worked as an engineer — Flex-N-Gate. Today, it is a global auto parts empire worth billions.

And that’s not all. In 2012, Shahid Khan became the first immigrant owner in NFL history when he bought the Jacksonville Jaguars.
From a teenage dishwasher who barely spoke English… to a self-made billionaire who owns an NFL team and a Premier League football club.
Shahid Khan often says: “I never forget those days washing dishes. They taught me the true value of hard work and humility.”
His story is living proof that no job is too small and no beginning is too humble if you have big dreams and unbreakable determination.
