King Von: The Soft-Spoken Assassin – The Tragic Rise and Lasting Legacy of Chicago Drill’s Master Storyteller

A powerful new video documentary titled “King Von: The Soft-Spoken Assassin” sheds light on the short but impactful life of Chicago drill artist King Von. Born Dayvon Daquan Bennett in 1994, Von grew up in the infamous O’Block neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, surrounded by gang violence and loss from a young age.
The video details how Von spent time in prison, where he began writing music seriously. After his release, he linked up with Lil Durk and Only The Family (OTF). His breakout hit “Crazy Story” went viral, followed by cinematic tracks like “Took Her to the O” and “Grandson” that showcased his unmatched storytelling ability.
Tragically, on November 6, 2020, at only 26 years old, King Von was shot and killed outside a nightclub in Atlanta. His death sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community. Despite his short career, Von’s influence on drill music remains massive. His ability to turn real street experiences into vivid, movie-like narratives earned him comparisons to a modern-day Tupac.

The documentary highlights Von’s loyalty to OTF, his love for his family, and his sharp sense of humor. Even years after his passing, his music continues to inspire new generations of artists who value authentic storytelling.
