Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero — Gohan’s 10 Best Techniques

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero topped the box office during its opening weekend in August (per Deadline). The film has been a massive success in the U.S. due to the franchise’s popularity and how widespread it was across theaters.

In this film, Gohan leads alongside his former martial arts master, Piccolo. Fans can expect flashing new attacks and new techniques from their beloved Saiyan in this film as he continues to borrow from his father and Piccolo as well as creating a few of his own.

Leave My Daddy Alone!

This was the first technique ever displayed by Gohan in Dragon Ball Z, and it proved to fans very early in the series that Gohan would later become a force to be reckoned with. Gohan’s power steadily rose as he saw his father, Goku, in danger and near death.

Because of this, he bursts out of Raditz’s ship and slams his head into Raditz. While this took all of Gohan’s energy out of him, he successfully injured Raditz by breaking his ribs and giving Goku the opening he needed to grab him for Piccolo’s attack.

Masendan

When Gohan is enraged, he always performs some of the strongest attacks in Dragon Ball Z. This was evident when Frieza pierced Krillin with his horns and nearly killed him.

Before Gohan finished his long technique, his attack was preceded by a brutal assault that Gohan performed on Frieza’s 2nd form. He mercilessly slammed consecutive hits into him and used a barrage of blasts before finishing the attack chain with a massive wave.

Explosive Madan

Gohan’s Explosive Madan isn’t too different from his Masenko. However, it seems to channel much more power and have a far shorter range. While this attack is more powerful, it doesn’t appear to take Gohan nearly as long to charge it up.

This technique is utilized well in tight corners and in close fights. Gohan first uses this attack underwater against Dabura and more as a means of distraction. It was a technique where Gohan proved himself as a tactful fighter by using the setting to his advantage.

Masenko

Masenko has been one of Gohan’s signature techniques since he first began fighting in the Saiyan Saga. Fans first saw him use it against one of the strongest characters during the Saiyan Saga, Nappa, after Nappa killed Piccolo.

His rage and usage of a powerful technique shot his power level up through the roof, but it sadly wasn’t enough to do anything to the Saiyan warrior. Regardless, the Masenko has helped Gohan out of tight spots, and he has made many variations of the technique to help him in different sorts of battles.

Gohan Beast

Gohan’s new form, titled “Beast,” sends Gohan’s power to new heights making him one of the strongest characters in Super Hero. It appears to be an evolution of his Potential Unleashed form and may have something to do with his Super Saiyan form or Saiyan genes as well.

Piccolo’s new form “Orange” involved a color scheme of the Dragon Balls and the symbol of Namekian pride on his back, so it’s likely Gohan’s form as some Saiyan attachment. This form sends Gohan into an odd state that changed his demeanor entirely into a cocky and arrogant version of himself.

Potential Unleashed

Gohan’s Potential Unleashed is without a doubt one of his most powerful techniques and is also a bit of a transformation that allows him to surpass even his Super Saiyan form.

While Gohan can theoretically use Super Saiyan on top of this form, the increase is so minimal that there isn’t much point to it. This technique was drawn out from Old Kai after Gohan freed him from the Z-Sword and seems to have some connection to the power the Namekian Elder Guru pulled out of Gohan in his youth.

Special Beam Cannon

While Gohan never utilized this technique much in the past, he uses this as his finishing move in the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero film. Gohan and Piccolo are one of the best duos in Dragon Ball and fight more as equals rather than master and student as they used to be.

However, due to Gohan’s recurring scenes with Piccolo and how impactful Piccolo had been on Gohan moments before his transformation into Beast, it makes sense that Gohan would pay homage to his former master to use one of his signature techniques in order to defeat Cell Max for good.

Super Saiyan

While Gohan first unlocked Super Saiyan while training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with Goku, it’s really Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 that’s the most notable. Even more so than any other Saiyan who achieves the form.

Gohan’s burst of rage into the Super Saiyan 2 form was something that had been built up since the beginning of Dragon Ball Z and was one of the ways Gohan was originally set up as the main protagonist of the Cell Games. This is one of the most impactful moments and one of the best transformation scenes in Dragon Ball.

Kamehameha

Gohan hasn’t been seen using the Kamehameha very often throughout Dragon Ball, but after training with Goku before the Cell Games he began to use more of Goku’s techniques rather than Piccolo’s.

The first instance of this is when Gohan unleashes a massive Kamehameha that nearly kills Cell. The second is one of the most memorable moments in Dragon Ball Z where Gohan kills Cell with the Kamehameha titled “Father-Son Kamehameha.”

Quiet Rage

Quiet Rage is one of Gohan’s best techniques and is utilized moments after he first transforms into his Super Saiyan 2 form. He uses this against the Cell Juniors, mercilessly tearing their bodies in half and smashing in their skulls.

He does the same in the Bojack Unbound film, killing all of Bojack’s crew with a single blow each. While Gohan doesn’t tear Cell Max in half, he does perform the same technique against him after transforming into his Beast form by immediately slamming in attacks reminiscent of how he assaulted the Cell Juniors.
