One Piece: Can Zoro Defeat V. Nusjuro?

One Piece chapter 1117 excited the fans in more ways than one, and the most intriguing part of the chapter was the stunning clash between Zoro and V. Nusjuro. Fans knew that at some point towards the end of this arc, Zoro and Nusjuro would come face-to-face. In fact, had these two individuals not crossed paths, it would certainly have been a missed opportunity for Oda. A writer of his caliber certainly saw this opportunity and took full advantage of it, delivering to the fans an interesting clash in One Piece chapter 1117.

This clash is one that fans have been waiting years for, and now, it has become a reality. While this clash has just begun, the big question that many fans will have in their minds is whether Zoro is capable enough of defeating V. Nusjuro or not, and that is precisely what is being answered here.

Zoro’s Current Level Of Strength

Zoro Reached New Heights After Beating King

Right now, Zoro is one of the strongest individuals in One Piece. In fact, Zoro can be considered to be an elite pirate of the One Piece world, given that his bounty is 1.111 billion berries. This Bounty is actually not enough for an individual as strong as Zoro. At the very least, his bounty should have been higher than King, who has a 1.390 billion berry bounty. After gaining control over Conqueror’s Haki, Zoro truly hit an entirely new level in terms of power. He was able to dismantle King in battle without much effort, and he also did incredibly well against Lucci. It can be said that Zoro’s true potential is still untapped, and right now, he can defeat the first Yonko Commanders in a high-difficulty battle.

I’m not taking a detour. That monster is heading right for you. There’s something special about his presence!!

However, for Zoro, defeating the likes of the Admirals and those that are stronger is not possible at this point in time. Zoro’s strength is limited. While he can bring out a tremendous amount of attack power, he truly can’t maintain this ability for long. Enma sucks Zoro’s Haki way too much, and as Zoro put himself, if he allows the sword to do that relentlessly for long, he will end up dying. Essentially, although Enma allows Zoro to bring out a lot of power, it is a double-edged sword. It can lead to him dying as well, which means that Zoro can only maintain his true power for a few minutes. Even if Zoro could maintain his power for long, he does not have it in him to defeat stronger enemies that are on the level of Yonko or beyond. Right now, this is the limit of Zoro’s strength, but that does not mean that Zoro cannot grow in the midst of battle and get even stronger.

Nusjuro’s Current Level Of Strength

Nusjuro Is On The Highest Tier In One Piece

V. Nusjuro was recently revealed in One Piece as one of the strongest individuals. At one point in the series, fans were unsure if the Five Elders were strong or not. Many believe them to be just political figures with no real powers of their own. However, Oda absolutely dismantled that notion in the Egghead Island arc, where the Five Elders have shown tremendous strength. It can be said that even among the Five Elders, Nusjuro shines a lot. He’s an incredibly powerful individual who holds magnificent strength up his sleeve. His go-to weapon is the Shodai Kitetsu, which is a very strong cursed blade. Recently, it was also stated that he has the ability to cut through absolutely anything.

This essentially implies that Nusjuro is a master swordsman who doesn’t just wield the blade for show, as many other individuals in the series do. V. Nusjuro is in a league of his own completely, and defeating him is not easy even for the strongest of characters in One Piece. He also has a very powerful Haki, as was confirmed in the Egghead Island Arc on many occasions. He’s a user of all three types of Haki, and in fact, he has advanced his Conqueror’s Haki to a very extreme level. Jinbe compared the Haki of the Elders to that of Shanks indirectly, which just goes to show that these are emperor-level individuals.

Bio response detected!! There are too many obnoxious bio responses! – Nusjuro before slicing the Labophase in half.

On top of that, he also has a very strong Devil Fruit ability. It isn’t exactly clear whether he has a Devil Fruit power or a unique Yokai ability, but, it doesn’t make much of a difference, given that fans know that he can transform into a beast. In his case, this is the power of the Yokai, named Bakotsu, which is a skeletal horse. This gives him incredible speed, such that he could dismantle 50 Mark III Pacifistas, and at the same time, the power to freeze things. With these abilities, he can essentially cut through almost anything.

While his swordplay is already incredible, he also has immortality up his sleeve. V. Nusjuro cannot be damaged permanently using normal means. In fact, even Haki-clad attacks do absolutely no lasting damage to him. While he does take damage, he ends up recovering from it almost immediately, as if he wasn’t even injured in the first place. Fans have seen bits from V. Nusjuro in One Piece already, and it will be interesting to see what level of strength he shows when he truly goes all out.

Can Zoro Defeat Nusjuro?

Zoro Is Far From The Level of Nusjuro

The question of whether Zoro can defeat V. Nusjuro or not is a very interesting one. The answer to this question depends on when the fans are arguing for Zoro to defeat V. Nusjuro. If one speaks of Zoro defeating V. Nusjuro in Egghead Island, then the answer to the question is absolutely no, even if Zoro were to go an all-out battle against Nusjuro. In fact, Nusjuro wouldn’t even have to utilize all of his power to defeat his Zoro. While that might be harsh, it is the absolute truth. All his abilities are on a completely different level when compared to Zoro, and it will take Zoro quite some time to get on his level.

That said, Zoro will eventually get on his level and, in fact, it can also be said that at some point later down the line, Zoro will fight against V. Nusjuro. If that does end up happening, then fans will get to see him defeat this Elder as well. V. Nusjuro is a very powerful individual and a master swordsman whose abilities might just be even greater than Mihawk. For Zoro to not take him on in combat and defeat him would be a missed opportunity, and he certainly would not be able to call himself the strongest swordsman if, at some point, he doesn’t take him down.

Right now, however, Zoro doesn’t have the tools required to take him down. In the future, he might defeat him. Even if one would want him to engage this Elder in an all-out combat on Egghead, there isn’t enough time for Zoro to do so. The Straw Hat Pirates are fully focused on escaping, and there is absolutely no time for Zoro to waste on small duels.
