Prince William showed once more he’s king of dad dancing at Taylor Swift’s London concert – and the royal has been throwing shapes for decades

Though Prince William may not be the world’s greatest dancer, he has certainly enjoyed showing off his moves over the years.

This weekend royal fans were treated to another glimpse at the heir to the throne grooving away as he broke out his famous ‘dad dancing’ moves during Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour in Wembley stadium.

William was clearly enjoying the pop superstar’s hit Shake It Off, as he was spotted boogeying to the 1989 track in the audience.

Like his father, King Charles III, the Prince of Wales also enjoys getting stuck in and dancing, whether it be on a royal tour abroad or grooving the night away at a club.

From trying out traditional dances, to even showing off his attempt at a ‘swag dance’, William has tried it all – even if it has occasionally embarrassed his wife, Princess Kate.

Here, FEMAIL takes a closer look at the prince’s spectacular dad dancing over the years.

2023: Dad dancing at the Coronation Concert

At a Buckingham Palace garden party in 2023, he admitted he prefers dancing after a beverage or two

Prince William very publicly decided to show off his dance moves at the Coronation concert for his father, King Charles III in Windsor in 2023.

The royal, 42, joined Kate, their three children and other senior royals at the Coronation Concert in Windsor, with Katy Perry and Lionel Richie amongst the headliners performing.

During the live television broadcast, the Prince of Wales was shown dancing alongside Prince George and at a garden party afterwards admitted he was a tad embarrassed by his moves.

A well-wisher asked him: ‘Did you enjoy the concert?’

William then replied: ‘I did yes, thank you.’

‘We saw you,’ a woman standing in front of him said. ‘We saw you dancing on the TV!’

Pulling a funny grimace, William then said: ‘Oh no. That wasn’t dancing.

‘As you may know, dancing sober is a terrible idea! No it was a fun weekend.’

2023: Dancing for his 41st birthday at KOKO nightclub after Royal Ascot

Last summer William was spotted reliving his youth at one of his favourite London clubs, Koko in Camden.

As he enjoyed a drink on the balcony with a few friends, the Prince of Wales, dressed in a light shirt, very subtly bopped along to the dance music.

The father-of-three was keen to show off his best moved, dancing on the balcony and bobbing his head to the heavy EDM beat after his birthday two days prior.

Appearing in a private box alongside two friends, including Prince Louis’s godfather and nightclub owner Guy Pelly, the heir to the throne seemed relaxed while enjoying his Friday night at the electronic music-themed evening.

William clearly sought a throwback to his youth after a busy day at Royal Ascot alongside Kate Middleton.

Jokingly known as the ‘court jester’ Guy Pelly is a childhood friend of both Prince William and Harry as well as a godfather to Prince Louis.

His mother Lady Carolyn Herbert was a close friend of Princess Diana, and such is the closeness of the family, Prince William skipped the late Queen’s Christmas lunch to support Guy at his father’s memorial service in 2015.

In many of the pictures of the Prince of Wales in nightclubs over the years, Guy is by his side.

2022: Prince William and Kate dance in Belize

The prince got his groove on once more during the Royal Caribbean tour in 2022, when he and Kate were snapped dancing during a visit to cultural centre in Belize

The couple took part in a Garifuna festival, which involved dancing with the local community.

Kate was just as enthusiastic and was even seen playfully shimmying towards her husband, with royal fans exclaiming: ‘Kate wants another baby!’

The royal couple had indulged their love of music and chocolate as they were shown around the Maya cacao farm in the coastal town of Hopkins in a last-minute addition to their schedule

The mother-of-three could be seen playfully shimmying towards her husband, while William watched on with a huge beam on his face.

Many royal fans went wild over the clip online, with one commenting: ‘She wants that fourth baby!’

2017: Hitting a Verbier nightclub in 2017 on a lads weekend ski holiday

From Buckingham Palace to the nightclub! William couldn’t resist dad dancing once more on a ‘lads holiday’ in 2017

In 2017, the future King was spotted busting some old-school moves inside the Farinet nightclub in Verbier during a lads skiing trip to Switzerland, and he was once again alongside Guy Pelly.

Footage taken by a member of the public showed William ‘raising the roof’ to the hit song ‘I Got 5 On It’ by American hip-hop duo Luniz.

The footage was seen as controversial at the time as it was taken hours before other senior royals attended a Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey.

But William was there until the early hours, drinking and dancing with his friends to a string of hits.

A band which played at the club, Husseyband, tweeted: ‘Great gig tonight – Prince William even made an appearance!’

Richard Bueno, from UK music group ‘Cardboard Foxes’, who was at the nightclub, said: ‘It was a great night and lovely to see the Prince taking time to enjoy normal activities with friends.’

The prince would have been accompanied by at least two plain-clothed Scotland Yard police officers at all times while in the nightclub, open until 2am.

The Princess of Wales – then Duchess of Cambridge – was said to be staying at home with the couple’s young children.

2012: William and Kate hula dance in Tuvalu

Kate certainly seemed more the natural dancer on a visit to Tuvalu in 2012 to mark Queen Elizabeth’s diamond jubilee

William had a go at the dance too, raising his arms and moving his hips in time to the music

William even had a go at hula dancing as part of a visit to Tuvalu to mark Queen Elizabeth’s diamond jubilee in 2012 with his wife Kate.

The couple took part in a Vaiku Falekaupule, a ceremony in which they wore traditional dress and joined in with dancing and festivities.

While Kate seemed the more natural dancer, William raised his arms and moved his hips in time to the music

Taking part in a traditional welcome dance on the island of Tuvalu, Kate started the royal knees up, putting on her grass skirt and swaying in time to the music, eventually cajoling William into joining her.

He got full marks for effort, but that was about it as he waved his arms next to Kate.

She later claimed that her husband had been secretly practising his dance moves at Kensington Palace.

The prince had unbuttoned his white shirt but left his suit jacket on, while barefoot Kate looked fun and fresh in a long, flowing dress by Alice Temperley.

2011: Prince William shows off his ‘urban swag dance’

William dusted off his shoulders to prove his ‘street cred’ – demonstrating his dad dancing which has become famous over the years.

William embarrassed Kate once more in a visit to homeless charity CentrePoint in south-east London in 2011.

In an attempt to prove his ‘street cred’, the now heir to the throne threw some shapes, leaving Kate embarrassed and giggling as she watched on.

William spoke to resident Vanessa Boateng, asking if his uniform at his wedding was ‘dapper’, during the visit, which took place a few days before Christmas.

Ms Boateng told him to ‘dust your shoulders off twice’ and told him his swag was ‘on point’.

William then started doing a hip-hop style dance, brushing the shoulders of his jumper twice on each side.

And he repeated his new move at a reception later on.

The couple were suitably dressed down for the occasion – Kate sported a Ralph Lauren olive green jersey dress, clinched at her tiny waist with a thick black belt, and knee-length black suede boots. The prince also abandoned his habitual suit for blue cords and a jumper and shirt.

During their engagement the couple viewed a group session on Centrepoint’s ‘Workwise’ programme, which enables participants to prepare themselves in order to find a job.

William and Kate also took part in a cookery class making low fat festive mince pies and gingerbread.
