Loki is the center of attention in One Piece right now and for good reason.
Fans know him to be an incredibly powerful individual with the title of the Accursed Prince. His importance to the Elbaf arc is paramount, and at this point, he seems like the most important character from this country by far. Clearly, fans know that he will have a major role to play here, but, it is still unclear as to how Loki will affect this arc.
Many fans see him as an antagonist, but the way Oda has been painting this individual, this villain-like portrayal seems to be a red herring. Loki is more likely to be an ally of Luffy than anything else, and, what’s important is that a potential team-up with Luffy, which could come later down the line in the Elbaf arc, could see him utilize the powers of his own legendary Devil Fruit, which might even be linked to the Sun God Nika in some way. Of course, fans have already put down the idea of Loki being the Sun God simply because Luffy exists as the Sun God, but, there certainly is more to than just a misconception here and that is exactly what is going to be discussed here.
Loki’s Claim Of Being The Sun God Of Elbaf
Loki Ate A Legendary Devil Fruit
Loki Claims To The Sun God Of Elbaf
As fans know already, Loki claims to be the Sun God of Elbaf and he made this claim in One Piece chapter 1130. When Loki was first introduced, he said that he’s the Sun God and that he’s going to destroy the world. These are two statements that, although can be picked apart and made sense of individually, can also be spoken of together. The Sun God that will go on to destroy the world can potentially be someone that the people of Elbaf are waiting for. Now, it doesn’t make much sense for the Sun God to destroy the world, but the fans don’t know what exactly the world that is being referred to here means. This could simply mean the world of One Piece, or, it could also mean the World Government, or the order established by the World Government, which could add further sense to the statement.
Loki murdered his own father and ate the legendary Devil Fruit of Elbaf! – Giants
Of course, the destruction of the world is something that fans might accept Loki can do, but what is rather unbelievable for them is Loki being the Sun God. As fans know, the Sun God is a legendary being that seems to have originated from Elbaf itself. This means that the Sun God, or at least tales of him, existed long before even Joy Boy came into existence around 800 or 900 years ago in the One Piece World. The tales of Sun God have been passed down and spoken of for thousands of years, and that is precisely why this entity is so important to Elbaf. Even more importantly, there is a legendary Devil Fruit that exists in Elbaf. This Devil Fruit has been passed down the royal line and is protected for a reason. Right now, fans don’t know whether anyone of the royal family actually ever consumed the Devil Fruit or not. Most fans simply assume that this Devil Fruit was consumed by every ruler and then upon their death, reincarnated and was then consumed by the next in line to rule.
While that is a plausible idea, it is also possible that the ruling line was simply given the responsibility to protect the Devil Fruit for a special someone who would come at some point later down the line. The special someone actually never ended up coming and Loki was the one who consumed this Devil Fruit, as fans know for good. But, the fact that this Devil Fruit could have been saved for a special someone links it directly to the Sun God. Perhaps, in Elbaf mythology, it was believed that the person who eats the Devil Fruit will end up becoming the Sun God and then go on to destroy the world. Perhaps, that is why Loki is so confident of being the Sun God, because he knows that he ate this legendary Devil Fruit, and even knows how to utilize its powers.
Why Loki Might Truly Have Powers Similar To The Sun God
Loki’s Form Should Be Similar To Gear 5
Right now, fans can’t comprehend the idea of there being more than one Sun God. However, this statement might actually end up being true. For one, the people of Elbaf know what the Sun God looks like. For instance, when both Dorry and Brogy saw Luffy, they clearly recognized his form due to his white hair and all-white clothes, as well as his laughter and every other idiosyncrasy that links him to Nika himself. This was quite easy for Dorry and Brogy to tell apart. Similarly, even Bonney and Kuma, two individuals who have never actually seen the Sun God or heard of the myths going around in Elbaf pertaining to this legendary individual, were able to recognize the Sun God as well. It isn’t hard for people to recognize the Sun God. And that is why Loki’s statements hold so much weight.
I am the Sun God who will destroy the world! – Loki
Loki is confident that he’s the Sun God. He even reiterated it in One Piece chapter 1131, and this comes on top of every Giant of Elbaf knowing what the Sun God looks like. Loki would only make such a statement when he knows the power that he holds directly links him to the Sun God in some way.
This essentially implies that Loki’s transformation, whatever it actually is, does give him an all-white transformation similar to that of Sun God Nika. This also means that Loki’s fruit is a version of the Hito Hito no Mi, and it is incredibly powerful. Of course, there can’t be two Sun God Nikas, which means that there is a misunderstanding somewhere, but what that is, isn’t known right now. Loki’s powers are most definitely similar to those of Nika, but not exactly those of the Sun God, to put it simply.
Could There Be More Versions Of The Hito Hito no Mi?
Loki Might Have A Different Version Of The Hito Hito no Mi
It is highly likely that the situation here sees two different versions of the Hito Hito no Mi being involved. While Luffy is the Sun God, Loki could be a God similar to the Sun God, but with a different purpose or power. These Devil Fruits could have been mixed up long ago somehow, which would then have led to the alternate Devil Fruit being passed down the royal line in Elbaf, and at the same time, the real Devil Suit ending up in the possession of some other person, eventually reaching Luffy and being consumed by him.
It is also interesting to note that Loki’s powers are most likely Mythical Zoan, similar to those of Luffy. As fans know, Zoan Devil Fruits have a will of their own, which means they often go to the user they think is best for them. These fruits can reject someone and accept someone of their own choosing. The fact that Loki ate the Devil Fruit meant that it was meant for someone like him and there is a personality match there.
Whatever God Loki has the power of, is somewhat cunning and slightly sinister, although the intentions of this God are not entirely wrong. This also means that whatever this God is, is also linked to Sun God Nika, given that their powers are similar, and perhaps, these fruits were made in pairs.
