The voice actor for Franky, Kazuki Yao, has officially stepped down, as was announced a few weeks ago. Initially, Kazuki Yao stepped down from his other roles in One Piece, such as the character of Jango.
With there being a lack of clarity about his future of voicing Franky after the anime went on hiatus, it was then revealed by Yao himself in early December that he would be stepping down from his role of voicing Franky, and that there will be a major announcements about the replacement on Jump Festa. All fans had their eyes on December 22, One Piece’s Jump Festa stage day.

Now, the official Jump Festa stage for One Piece has concluded, and fans finally have the name of the actor who is going to take over from Kazuki Yao. Franky’s new voice actor was revealed to be Subaru Kimura. It was revealed that Kazuki Yao was involved in picking him for the role of Franky himself, which certainly makes fans feel better when it comes to what they’re going to get from him.
Subaru Kimura is a very popular voice actor, and fans might know him from his recent work with Aoi Todo’s voice from Jujutsu Kaisen. In many ways, this voice is a perfect fit for Franky and fans are looking forward to what he will deliver already.

Kimura has also voiced some of the most exciting characters in anime overall. Fans know him to be the voice of Sakuragi from the First Slam Dunk, and even Tendo from Haikyuu!!.
When the One Piece anime returns in April 2025, fans will most definitely get to see Subaru Kimura playing out the role of Franky, and it will certainly be interesting to see how he performs. On paper, this replacement looks perfect already, but it remains to be seen whether it is as good as fans’ expectations.
