Y&R Spoilers: Billy’s Bravado Alienates Jack – Adam’s Loyalty Pays Off

Y&R Spoilers: Billy’s Bravado Alienates Jack – Adam’s Loyalty Pays Off

Billy Abbott from The Young and the Restless

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) was sure of himself.

So much so that he didn’t consult his brother and sole backer of Abbott Communications before making a deal with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).

Billy was certain that he could woo his estranged quasi-brother, Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn). Billy was initially contacted by Cane, who was posing as Aristotle Dumas, with an offer to regain control of Chancellor.

But the momentous events that transpired on Cane’s estate in the South of France appear to have dashed Billy’s latest gamble. Three deaths rocked Y&R, with two of them impacting various characters.

Aristotle Dumas Was A Mirage

Billy spoke with the man he believed to be Aristotle this summer. Viewers wondered why Thompson’s character didn’t recognize Cane’s voice during that conversation, with Billy claiming an apparent lack of focus at the time.

Sally was leery of the then mysterious stranger reaching out to Billy in particular. But Billy felt the Abbott’s reputation and his ability to be uniquely positioned to go against Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) were decisive factors.

Desperation caused Billy to continue the perceived alliance with Cane even after his identity was revealed.

A series of events caused the deaths of Damian Kane (Jermaine Rivers), Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd), and Cane’s assistant, Carter (Vincent Stalba), leaving Billy with a self-created bad hand.

Billy Abbott Can’t Control Himself

Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) faith in his brother was touching. Billy was genuinely appreciative after Jack agreed to fund the upstart Abbott Communications, with his mind later wandering.

Billy was specifically warned against battling Victor and promised that he was past that old grudge. However, his interest in what proved to be Cane’s generally disingenuous offer reinforced Billy’s self-defeating persona.

Thompson’s character sees himself as the doomed man of Genoa City, Wisconsin. That self-pity is something Jack has helped him fight against for years, once again to no avail or seeming progress.

In Contrast, Adam Newman Does Good

Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) had a useful run-in with Cane when he flew to GC to meet with Holden Novak (Nathan Owens).

That further fueled her and Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) speculation that Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers) or Cane was Aristotle.

Their deduction led Adam to travel to France and spend hours hiking up the mountain that led to Cane’s estate. He found the train car and met with Victor, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow).

The contrast between Billy degrading himself and betraying his brother with Adam delivering the message about Cane’s visit to GC couldn’t be starker.

Thompson and Grossman’s characters have, in effect, swapped personas through this summer stunner storyline, with further fallout still to come when everyone returns home.
