One Piece: Oda Reveals Plans To Introduce A Special Pirate In The Final Saga

Fans are yet to meet a very important pirate in One Piece.

One Piece is currently in the Final Saga and fans have thoroughly enjoyed the story so far, even though this particular saga has just begun. Oda is going to take his sweet time in illustrating this amazing story, and hopefully, it will be even more exciting than it is already as the bigger arcs start taking up the focus.

Of course, fans are already waiting in anticipation for many interesting characters. There are countless from the island of Elbaf that the fans want to see in more detail. There are also other characters who have already been introduced in the story long ago and are now due the spotlight. At the same time, there are other characters that Oda himself wants to incorporate into the story as well. Oda has previously talked about a very special pirate that he wants to introduce in his story in the Final Saga.

One Piece’s Final Saga

The Final Stretch Focuses On Luffy’s Journey To Get The One Piece

One Piece’s Final Saga began after Luffy defeated Kaido in the land of Wano and officially became an Emperor of the Sea. This was a long and arduous process for Luffy. The Wano Arc lasted for over 4 years, and it took Luffy quite a long time to actually go on to defeat Kaido. At first, Luffy was absolutely no match for the Yonko, however, with a lot of training as well as many defeats, Luffy finally learned the lessons required to reach the next level of strength. With that, he was finally able to match Kaido, and the Awakening of his Devil Fruit gave him one final push and allowed him to defeat the King of Beasts for good. Luffy was then made an Emperor of the Sea, and as soon as the Straw Hats departed from the land of Wano, the Final Saga kick-started.

Oda had already mentioned earlier that after the Wano arc wraps up, the image of the One Piece will start getting closer, and now, fans are in the Final Saga, where Luffy is within touching distance of Joyboy’s treasure. The very first arc in the Final Saga was Egghead, and it is almost near completion at this point in time.

Luffy is currently dealing with the threat of the Marines, as well as the Five Elders, all the while trying to get out of the island and protect Vegapunk as well. Of course, this has been a difficult arc for the Straw Hat Pirates, but it was the perfect start to the Final Saga, which is going to be even more chaotic from here on. As the Straw Hat Pirates leave Egghead, there are certainly going to be other elements that play. Dragon and the Revolutionary Army are going to take up an important role in the story, as well as the other pirates of the One Piece World, such as Blackbeard, Shanks, and of course, Buggy as well.

Things are going to get only more tumultuous, which means this is the perfect opportunity for Oda to introduce characters who will only add to the chaos and drive the story forward even further. One particular character that Oda has wanted to draw for quite a long time is a special pirate with an eye patch.

Oda’s Plans For A Pirate With An Eye Patch

The Eye-Patched Pirate Will Show Up in One Piece Soon

Eye patches are commonly associated with pirates, and while this may be a stereotype, it is one that Oda doesn’t want to avoid at any cost. Oda has himself spoken about pirates and eye patches, and he seems to be keen on an idea of introducing a pirate with one at some point in a story. In fact, Oda has himself talked about it long ago and explained to the fans his idea of wanting to introduce such an individual in his story who will most definitely go on to play a very important role later down the line. Here’s what Oda had to say about the pirate with an eye patch:

A pirate with an eye patch will appear in the final phase of One Piece. I’m itching to draw that character as soon as possible. Maybe people have a preconception that many pirates wear eye patches, but actually I’ve never drawn any pirates with eye patches. – Eiichiro Oda, 2007

As is quite evident, Oda absolutely loves everything about pirates, and as such, he would simply not give away the chance to introduce a pirate with an eye patch in his story. Similarly, fans know that Pirates are often associated with peg legs and hooks as well. Both of these elements have been introduced by Oda in his story. Zeff was seen in One Piece with a peg leg very early in the series. Similarly, Crocodile had a hook for his hand, and it just goes to show how much Oda enjoys writing stories about pirates and taking elements from general conception about these individuals. Of course, Oda would never give away the chance to introduce a pirate with an eye patch, and based on his previous comments, he is set to introduce one in the Final Saga of One Piece, which is now already underway.

Who Could The Pirate With An Eye Patch Be?

The Identity Of The Pirate With An Eye Patch Is Not Known Yet

Naturally, after reading Oda’s comments, fans might wonder as to who the pirate with an eye patch is. This might be quite confusing to the fans, and that is down to the fact that there doesn’t appear to be any hidden pirate in One Piece anymore. However, one particular individual that the fans are desperately waiting to see in the Final Saga is none other than the Man with the Burn Scar. This individual has not been seen in One Piece as of yet, and fans know that he is, at the very least, a pirate who sails in a black ship. Of course, there are many ideas as to who this person is. Some believe this person to be Dragon, while others believe it to be a completely new individual. Frankly, Oda can go both ways, and if it does turn out to be a completely new individual that the fans have never seen in the story, then, this very person who has been marked by flames could end up being the man with the eye patch as well.

The flames and the burn marks would explain how he lost his eye, and then, fans would know that this person has a very important role to play, given he has the last Road Poneglyph that is required for Luffy to get to the Final Island, Laugh Tale.

Of course, the pirate with an eye patch could also end up being an entirely different individual. It is also possible that this person could end up being an individual that the fans have already seen in the story long ago but ended up losing their eye. Oda has countless ways to incorporate this person into his story, and it all depends on his vision of how to introduce this person the best. For now, all fans need to keep in mind is that in the Final Saga, at some point, an interesting pirate with an eye patch will show up and play a major role in the story.
