Cristiano Ronaldo scored to contribute to a 2-0 victory for Al Nassr against Al Wehda in the fifth round of the Saudi Pro League.
Facing a team that is currently at the bottom of the standings, Al Nassr, with its star-studded lineup, easily dominated the match.
After numerous attempts to penetrate the opponent’s goal, the home team finally opened the scoring in the 41st minute. Angelo surged down the right wing and deliberately passed the ball to Ronaldo. However, the ball went straight into the net as the Al Wehda goalkeeper was caught off guard and could not stop it.
Ronaldo helped Al Nassr secure three important points.
Just minutes earlier, winger Wesley made a speedy run and executed a technical curling shot that hit the post of the visitors’ goal.
After the halftime break, Al Nassr continued its relentless attacking play, which forced the Al Wehda defense into mistakes. In the 53rd minute, Al Nassr was awarded a penalty after an Al Wehda player committed a foul. From the penalty spot, Ronaldo easily doubled the lead for Al Nassr.
This marked the 903rd goal of the 39-year-old Portuguese striker’s career and his 70th goal for Al Nassr in 77 appearances. Ronaldo has successfully converted all 17 penalties he has taken since joining Al Nassr.
Towards the end of the match, Al Wehda had to play with one less player as Waleed Bakshween received a second yellow card. Al Nassr did not score any more goals, but the 2-0 scoreline was more than enough to help Ronaldo and his teammates close the gap with league leaders Al Hilal to just one point in the Saudi Pro League title race.
