The Final Saga of One Piece has to explain several unanswered mysteries and the giant egg on Roger’s ship needs one desperately.
The mysteries in One Piece go far and wide with several random things that go unexplained within the series grabbing the community’s attention. Fans immediately start cooking up theories as to what these could be and right now, a very random large egg in Gol D. Roger’s ship has got them in a chokehold. The theories range from the large egg itself being the titular One Piece to Eiichiro Oda forgetting about its existence.
The large egg has created some incredibly strange theories that reach too far considering the whereabouts of Roger’s ship, the Oro Jackson, is unknown after their disbandment. So how could the large egg still be relevant?

Considering how much Oda keeps foreshadowing important plot points with the most random visual aids, the rampant theories are bound to follow this egg. If the sheer size of the egg wasn’t enough, it’s in the centre of the ship with red polka dots, hinting nothing of its nature or why it would be on Gol D. Roger’s ship at all. Some of these theories are in line with One Piece’s storyline while some are quite ridiculous.

Eiichiro Oda might be human but his writing skills are unmatched. His foreshadowing and the way he ties the story together are almost too perfect so there’s little chance the mangaka forgot. The giant egg in the Oro Jackson is actually too big to forget and is featured in many flashbacks. It’s not a one-off thing he drew and decided it wasn’t needed.
The majority of One Piece fans believe the giant egg could be holding a dragon. In a world as vast and wonderful as One Piece and the Grand Line, there’s no way dragons are limited to Devil Fruit abilities like Kaidou and Momonosuke’s. Sure, the egg should’ve hatched at some point but if it’s left on Laugh Tale, which will be the ultimate destination for Luffy, it could be grown and guarding the treasure as dragons are known to be possessive of it. One of the more ridiculous theories involving another “type” of dragon is that Monkey D. Dragon laid an egg like a dragon and that’s how Luffy was born. Hopefully, we can debunk that one.
Another common theory, explained by a Reddit user, is that the giant egg is related to an Ancient Weapon. Since two out of the three Ancient Weapons have had a royal member with the Voice of All Things, like Shirahoshi and Momonosuke, the next is likely Nefertari Vivi and the egg inside it is Uranus. Vivi is commonly associated with birds so the egg could foreshadow her involvement with it.

The giant egg aboard the Oro Jackson is unlikely to be involved with the One Piece or Joy Boy since the crew had it well before they arrived on Laugh Tale. Perhaps the egg hatched on Laugh Tale and the creature decided to stay there and now attacks anybody looking for the treasure, explaining why it’s harder to find.
The egg will continue to draw suspicions and theories considering we barely know anything about Roger’s journey. The man is a mystery beyond how idealized he is by Luffy and how the Marines have smeared his name. He’s a legendary figure who will be the subject of many theories, even his giant red polka dot egg.
