Andre Onana has been told to leave Manchester United in the summer by a former Old Trafford flop.
The goalkeeper has had a mixed time of things at the club since joining for £47million from Inter last summer, which saw him replace long-standing No 1 David De Gea in a cut-throat call made by former manager Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag was sacked in October and replaced by Ruben Amorim, and the Daily Star have claimed Onana is unhappy with life in Manchester. The same outlet have also reported that the 28-year-old was already unsettled before Ten Hag’s dismissal, but the situation has worsened since Amorim arrived.
Despite winning the FA Cup last season, Onana has been at fault for a number of goals during his time in Manchester, most recently against Wolves when Matheus Cunha scored directly from a corner in the 2-0 defeat last time out.
Reports have surfaced that United could dip into the transfer market and look to replace the 28-year-old, with Bart Verbruggen reported to be a target following a string of impressive performances for Brighton.
Former United goalkeeper Massimo Taibi, meanwhile, knows what it’s like to struggle with the club, and has suggested Onana cuts his losses as soon as he can.

Onana was recently criticised for conceding directly from a corner in the 2-0 defeat by Wolves
‘I’d be straight to the point and tell him, “Andre, you are one of the best keepers in Europe but in the Premier League, you are under-performing. Block out criticism, do some soul-searching, press the reset and go again. And if things don’t change by June, move on”,’ he told the Sun.
‘I think subconsciously the United environment isn’t ideal for him and when a marriage is showing cracks, it’s pointless to continue. Sometimes things don’t work out at a team and it’s best to go separate ways, which would not be a failure.
‘For me he’s a strong goalkeeper who finds himself in a situation where he can’t show his skills because he is not cut out for the English game. He’s only suited to the Prem when it comes to his ball-playing ability and structure.’
There were high hopes for Taibi when he joined United in 1999 from Venezia, but he played just four games before leaving a year later, returning to Italy with Reggina.
He saw out the rest of his career in his homeland, retiring in 2009, with Premier League fans left wondering what could have been of his time in Manchester.
His stay has , ultimately, been famed for conceding one of the softest goals in the history of the Premier League when a Matt Le Tissier effort slipped through his hands to roll into the goal.
Onana, meanwhile, has been part of a United defence which has conceded nine goals in their last three games, which has included a 4-3 defeat by Tottenham and 3-0 loss at home against Bournemouth.
He has been criticised for a number of errors throughout his Manchester career, though generally praised for his distribution, despite that too sometimes causing difficulty for United. Amorim, meanwhile, has stuck by his No 1.
