There might be a hidden class of Devil Fruits in One Piece that Oda is hinting at in the final saga.
Devil Fruits are the most important power system in the world of One Piece, and, over the years, fans have seen countless of these amazing abilities being revealed by Oda. As One Piece has continued, the classification of the Devil Fruits has only gotten more interesting. Fans have seen many classes of these fruits, and even many subclasses.
Of course, with time, these subclasses have started to become more interesting, and, in the Final Saga, Oda might just have revealed another incredibly exciting one to the fans. This subclass of Devil Fruits could be what the Five Elders are currently utilizing, and fans might actually end up finding out more about them sooner rather than later.
The Main Devil Fruit Classifications
Paramecia, Logia, And Zoan Form The Three Main Classes
When the Devil Fruits were introduced to the fans through Luffy, the idea of classification certainly did not exist. However, as One Piece explored more Devil Fruits, Oda introduced a classification and, primarily, categorized Devil Fruits into three types. The strongest type of Devil Fruits were revealed to be the Logias. These are Devil Fruits that allow the user to transform into a particular element or a force of nature. They can become the element itself, and gain intangibility. They can create, manipulate, and turn into the element itself, which makes them incredibly dangerous. All the Logias are generally considered to be the strongest classes of Devil Fruits.
Those with powers exist in different dimensions, dreamed up by someone else before them!
Of course, there are also the miscellaneous abilities. The ability to produce something from one’s body, or turning their body into a substance or thing, or just about doing anything that is bizarre and doesn’t fit in the other two categories goes into Paramecia class. Of course, the Zoan class is the easiest of all, and this particular class of Devil Fruits includes fruits that allow the user to transform into an animal, as well as an animal-human hybrid at will. These are the primary classes of Devil Fruits that the fans have seen in the story over the years.
Of course, there are also many subclasses that the fans have been introduced to. The first subclasses that the fans saw in the series were pertaining to the Zoan class. Zoans can be divided into two types, and they are the Ancient Zoans, and the Mythical Zoans. The Ancient Zoans allow the user to transform into ancient creatures, such as dinosaurs, or just about any creature that existed in the ancient past but is now extinct. Meanwhile, the Mythical Zoans allow the user to transform into mythological creatures, such as a dragon, phoenix, or just about any other mythological entity.
There’s also a subclass in the Paramecia class, which is the Special Paramecia. Essentially, any Paramecia that behaves like a Logia falls in this category. So far, only one Devil Fruit has been revealed in this class, and that belongs to Charlotte Katakuri, who possesses the Mochi Mochi no Mi, which has the ability to produce, manipulate, as well as turn into mochi, making it essentially a Logia-style Paramecia fruit.
The Five Elders And Their Yokai Powers
The Elders Might Have Unique Fruits In One Piece
Recently in One Piece, fans were introduced to quite a few special abilities. These are the powers of the Yokai that belong to the Five Elders. When the Five Elders were introduced, Oda did not give a name for their Devil Fruits, even though they could clearly transform into some kind of demonic entities. When all Five Elders assembled together on Egghead, it became quite clear that they might have special powers up their sleeve. Oda simply introduced them as the creature that they could transform into. These creatures are not normal Mythical Zoan creatures, nor do they seem to possess regular Devil Fruits. In fact, it is not even a certainty that they do possess Devil Fruits in the first place. However, if they do indeed have the power of the Devil Fruits, then they are certainly a separate subclass that would likely fall in the Zoan class.
These abilities allow the user to transform into a Yokai at will. They can also transform into a human-Yokai hybrid, just as was seen with the likes of Saturn, and, at the same time, Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro. These abilities, if they do belong to a Devil Fruit, are incredibly overpowered. Essentially, they grant multiple abilities to the user. For instance, in the case of Saturn, he is known to have the power to inflict invisible damage on his enemies, freeze them in their place with an invisible force, produce poison from his body, or launch explosives at his enemies. These are incredibly powerful abilities, regardless of what his performance against Luffy was like.
Meanwhile, the likes of V. Nujsuro showed the ability to transform into an extremely fast skeletal horse, and summon what appears to be the chill of the underworld to freeze and slice his targets with ease. These abilities that the Yokai possesses are absolutely sensational. Fans will most likely find out more about this particular type of ability, and see if they are truly a subclass of Zoan type.
Are The Five Elders Users Of A Hidden Devil Fruit Class?
The Five Elders Have Immortality Ingrained In Their Powers
The question of whether the Five Elders are a subclass of the Zoan type is a valid one. Of course, there is a chance that they do not possess any Devil Fruit. However, the fact is that whatever abilities they have are remarkably similar to Devil Fruit powers. They can transform into creatures, and they can also transform into a human and creature hybrid. It is unknown if they have a weakness to the sea, or if they are affected by seastone.
Let’s hurry! This won’t matter… They’re immortal! They keep coming back, no matter what you do!!
However, apart from that, all their powers are similar to Devil Fruits. The only difference is that they are not referred to by their Devil Fruit names, but instead, by their creature names. If they are truly a subclass of the Zoan type, then they will most likely be a different subject class, possibly something that goes along the likes of the Yokai Zoans.
These are massively powerful Devil Fruits and their biggest strength is likely going to be the ability of immortality. All the Five Elders seem to have immortality and fans have seen that on many occasions in the Egghead Island Arc already. This is what would make the subclass of Devil Fruits the strongest of all, and it will be interesting to see how this can be overcome, if at all.
Of course, this is still just an idea at the end of the day. However, at this point, it appears that it is highly likely for this ability to be quite special, when compared to normal Devil Fruits. These fruits are not simple Mythical Zoans. Instead, they are likely special abilities that will either be derived from a source other than Devil Fruit, or a special subclass of fruits that only they have, along with Imu. Only time they’ll tell, and hopefully, fans will find out the answer sooner rather than later in the Final Saga of One Piece.
