One Piece: Sanji’s Final Scientific Mutation, Explained

Sanji will gain more power-ups in One Piece’s final saga.

Sanji is the number three of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the strongest individuals in the entirety of One Piece. As one of Luffy’s top Commanders, Sanji holds tremendous importance, both in terms of serving the narrative, as well as fighting against strong individuals. Sanji’s story itself has been fascinating and his growth as a character has made him one of the best-written characters in the entire series.

Of course, Sanji has been focused on quite a lot as of late, and both the Whole Cake Island Arc, as well as the Wano arc have been absolutely massive for him when it comes to power. Fans know that Sanji is very strong, and his most recent power-up which pertains to genetic mutation has seen to it that he reaches very high levels of strength. Sanji showcased these powers in the Egghead Island arc of One Piece. However, his genetic mutations are not done just yet. There is more from Sanji to come in the upcoming arcs of One Piece.

Sanji’s Germa Mutations In Wano

Sanji Developed Some Exciting Scientific Powers In Wano

Sanji returned from the timeskip of One Piece as one of the strongest characters within the Straw Hat Pirates. He had mastered the ability of Haki to a certain extent, and he could easily utilize two types of Haki. Sanji’s control over Observation Haki was absolutely incredible, and it goes without saying that he’s one of the best users of Observation Haki in the entire series. His Armament Haki was more than decent as well, and overall, it is safe to say that Sanji was a tremendous fighter right from the get-go after the timeskip. However, in order to be able to fight against stronger enemies, such as Yonko Commanders as well as the likes of the Admirals and the Yonko, he needed more power to go a step beyond.

That is precisely what ended up happening in the Wano Country arc, where he received his next power-up. After having been given the Raid Suit by his family in the Whole Cake Island arc, Sanji wore it a couple of times in Wano, and the third time he did it, his body reacted weirdly. By putting on the Raid Suit, Sanji’s latent powers, which were a result of experimentation done on him when he was in his mother’s womb, finally awakened.

An exoskeleton, muscle, speed…all of which enhance strength. Add the Color of Armament to the exoskeleton, and my legs are tougher, capable of supporting even hotter flames.

As such, in the raid of Onigashima, where Sanji was fighting against the likes of Queen, he gained incredible power. In Sanji’s own words, he received an incredibly tough exoskeleton, more muscle mass, and all that resulted in him getting stronger and faster. On top of that, Sanji had refined his Armament Haki to a very high level, and when he added that to all the things that he had gained, he could sustain even hotter flames on his legs. Just like he utilized the power of Diable Jambe up until this point, Sanji could now use Ifrit Jambe in combat, and this made him a monstrously powerful individual capable of dismembering even the likes of Queen the Plague.

How Sanji Will Develop Even Further

Sanji’s Scientific Mutation Is Far From Over

Sanji has developed greatly over the years, however, his growth is not going to stop here. While the fans might wonder as to what more is left for him to attain using his scientific powers, Oda himself confirmed in an SBS that Sanji will develop even further and that fans should keep a close eye on him. Here’s what Oda had to say about Sanji:

“D: I have a question, in Chapter 1031 of Volume 102 Sanji’s eyebrows were reversed, but in Chapter 1044 of Volume 103 they returned to normal. Why did they change back to normal? P.N. Rooftop

You noticed it well. His eyebrows have definitely changed. Going back to the Whole Cake Island Arc, all of Sanji’s brothers and sister have had superhuman qualities and strong skin called “Exoskeleton” since they were born due to “Lineage Factor Manipulation”. However, only Sanji was born as a normal human due to his mother’s resistance. Look at his brothers and sister’s eyebrows. Everyone has “66” like Yonji. Sanji is the exact opposite. That was the battle where “the power of science” was manifested in the wake of the raid suit! Sanji originally had an abnormal resistance to “flame”. It was strange. Let’s keep watching.

Essentially, Sanji’s resistance to flames, on top of the other powers that he attained over the years, such as Diable Jambe, as well as the exoskeleton and the increased muscle mass, is all linked to the genetic modification that Judge did on him. Now that his powers have awakened, Sanji is slowly developing even further. However, he is still not the finished article. Oda’s last sentence itself implies that fans should keep a close eye on him and that he will develop even further, which makes things even more exciting for him.

Sanji’s Final Mutation – Stealth Black

Fans Might Not Have Seen The Last Of Stealth Black

Sanji’s final mutation in One Piece will be extremely exciting. For one, fans know that this will be an incredible character moment for him. As fans know, Sanji is slowly turning into something like his siblings. His siblings are known to be cold-blooded and heartless monsters. If Sanji were to mutate even further, he may end up losing his heart and become a cold-blooded monster. However, as fans know, that would go against everything that Sanji stands for. This will make for an interesting character moment where Sanji will have to conquer his own powers and maintain his heart through his own passion.

He is likely going to develop even further and gain greater powers, such as the ability to turn invisible with sheer speed even greater than what he currently possesses, along with even greater strength, which would make him unstoppable. Even his hair color might change to black, because, technically, Sanji is Stealth Black and his hair should be black, just like his brothers have hair similar to the color mentioned in their moniker.

When Sanji attains these final changes, he will be at his strongest, and at this point, he will likely surpass even the Seraphims, as Oda has implied himself. He can become one of the strongest individuals in the entire series the likes of which have never been seen before. It will be then that Sanji will have to conquer his own powers with his emotions, which are his biggest strength. Essentially, Sanji will have to go from a heartless monster to the kind and generous individual that the fans know him to be. When he does that, his final ability will awaken and he will surpass the vast majority of powerful individuals in the One Piece world.

At the end of the day, Sanji is destined for the top and he will certainly get there. He has to stand among the strongest individuals in One Piece come the end of the series, such as the Admirals, the Five Elders, and the Yonko. In order to do that, Sanji will have to unlock the full potential of his lineage factor manipulation and the genetic mutation that he underwent as a fetus. On top of that, Sanji’s Haki will likely develop further and this will allow him to reach these sky-high levels in the future of the story.
