Set in ancient Polynesia, Moana follows the journey of a spirited and brave teenager named Moana Waialiki, the daughter of the chief of the island village of Motunui. When a mysterious darkness begins to threaten her island’s life, Moana learns that the only way to restore balance is to find the demigod Maui and return the stolen heart of the goddess Te Fiti. Despite her father’s warnings to stay close to the island, Moana sets sail across the ocean, guided by the spirit of her grandmother and the power of the sea, which has chosen her for this mission. Along the way, she confronts storms, monsters, and her own doubts. She eventually finds Maui, who is reluctant at first but joins her on the quest.
