Warner Bros. has unveiled the first image of Karl Urban as Johnny Cage in the upcoming sequel, Mortal Kombat 2. The reveal comes in the form of a stylized poster, showcasing Urban donning Cage’s signature sunglasses and exuding the character’s iconic charisma. Urban shared the poster on his social media platforms on February 11, 2025, igniting excitement among fans. The poster pays homage to Johnny Cage’s in-universe filmography, capturing the essence of 1980s and 1990s action cinema. This creative approach not only highlights Cage’s larger-than-life persona but also seamlessly integrates him into the Mortal Kombat cinematic universe. Directed by Simon McQuoid, who returns after the 2021 Mortal Kombat reboot, the sequel is slated for release on October 24, 2025. The film picks up from the cliffhanger ending of its predecessor, with Raiden assembling new warriors to defend Earthrealm against emerging threats. Johnny Cage, portrayed by Urban, is set to play a pivotal role in this new ensemble.
