Officer Rossiter, assigned to the 60th Precinct in Brooklyn, was one of several officers involved in a deadly shootout on November 10, 2022, in Coney Island. Responding to reports of an armed man threatening civilians, Rossiter and his partner faced immediate gunfire from the suspect, Jermaine Hickson. The officers returned fire, fatally shooting the suspect. A former hockey standout at Monsignor Farrell High School, Rossiter joined the NYPD in October 2021. Colleagues remembered him as a compassionate, hardworking, and loyal officer with a bright future and a great sense of humor.
