OKLAHOMA CITY — Sergeant Meagan Burke, a six-year veteran of the Oklahoma City Police Department, was tragically killed in the line of duty early Thursday morning, September 29, 2022, in a head-on collision on Interstate 44.
According to authorities, Sgt. Burke was traveling northbound on I-44 when a southbound vehicle crossed the median and struck her vehicle head-on near SW 29th Street. She was pronounced dead at the scene. She was 31 years old.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Victor Fraser, was arrested and charged with first-degree manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs. He was later released on bond and died of natural causes several days after the incident.
Sergeant Burke joined the Oklahoma City Police Department in 2016 and was highly respected by her colleagues for her leadership, compassion, and dedication to service. She is remembered as a hardworking, dependable officer who made a lasting impact on her community.
She is survived by her mother, father, and sister.
