Cristiano Ronaldo relaxes with his daughter as Portugal’s stars enjoy family time after shock defeat by Georgia – with Roberto Martinez’s side set to meet Slovenia in last-16

Portugal comfortably advanced to the last-16 of Euro 2024 and their stars are now enjoying family time ahead of the knockouts.

Roberto Martinez’s side ended their group stage campaign with a whimper as they suffered a 2-0 defeat against Georgia, but topped the group to set up a last 16 tie against Slovenia.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze were on hand to net for the Georgians, who will take on Spain in a historic clash for the nation as they too progressed from Group F.

Ronaldo is yet to score at the tournament and drew another blank on Wednesday night, despite having a number of shots on goal with his frustration growing as the game wore on.

He was withdrawn by Martinez after 66 minutes, replaced by Goncalo Ramos, but didn’t take the substitution well as he lashed out, kicking the turf as he made his way to his seat.

Portugal suffered a shock 2-0 defeat against Georgia in their final group match on Wednesday

Cristiano Ronaldo endured a frustrating evening but was all smiles during family time

But the Al Nassr forward was all smiles again on Thursday morning as he enjoyed a cup of coffee while holding one of his young daughters on his lap.

Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot played two of the three group matches, including the full 90 minutes against Georgia.

And he was also pictured enjoying time off with his daughter, using the caption ‘Mornings like this’ with a heart emoji.

Portugal have been below par at the tournament so far, despite winning two of their three matches in the group stage in Germany.

After beating creeping past Czechia in their opener, they beat Turkey 3-0, but fell flat in the final game as Georgia shocked the 2016 winners to pick up what was their first-ever major tournament win.

Martinez criticised his team’s poor start to the game and admitted it was ‘the worst result’.

‘It was the worst result. It was a game in which we started badly,’ Portugal boss said.

‘Conceding the goal really highlighted what the opponent wanted to do.

‘We always had a good attitude, looking at the goal and trying to score the goal.

‘Today Georgia had the key moments, the second goal, all the goalkeeper’s energy and performance. We need to congratulate them.

‘And now it’s time to look to the round of 16 and have the team better prepared.

‘We don’t want to lose, but we have all the players.

‘We continued to try to control the game, but when the opponent has an advantage to defend it’s different.

‘They have belief and strength. We started and it was another game, it wasn’t a game that we needed to win.’

Martinez did rotate his side against Georgia, however the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Ruben Dias are expected to return for the last 16 tie against Slovenia.
