Pregnant Mother of Seven Brutally Murdered in Mexico After Vanishing with Her Children
Indianapolis, Indiana — The tragic discovery of 30-year-old Makala Pendley’s body in southern Mexico has left her family devastated and raised urgent questions about the circumstances surrounding her death. Pendley, who was pregnant with her eighth child, disappeared in February 2026 along with her seven young children.

Her nude body was found in a ditch near the village of Zinacantán in Chiapas state. Mexican authorities determined she had been raped and killed by blunt force trauma causing traumatic brain injury. She had reportedly been at the location for 8–12 hours before discovery. Pendley’s partner, identified as the father of her children and primary suspect, was arrested shortly after.
The seven children, ranging in ages from 1 to 12, were located safe and are now under government protection. Family members, including Pendley’s sister Maurica Lambert, expressed profound grief while working with authorities on both sides of the border. Pendley had been reported missing by Indianapolis Children’s Services after concerns arose.

This case underscores the dangers faced by vulnerable families and the complexities of cross-border investigations. As the suspect faces potential charges carrying up to 100 years in prison, Pendley’s loved ones are calling for justice and support for the surviving children.
