Kim Kardashian may still be “learning how to be a single parent” following her split from ex-husband in February 2021, but North West thinks Ye has it “all figured out.”
Kim and Ye (formerly known as Kanye West) finalised their divorce in November 2022 and share four children: North, 10, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4. And while the 43-year-old reality star has been vocal about finding time to spend with all her children and shielding them from negative press surrounding their father, she now says her eldest daughter gravitates toward her dad’s parenting style.
“She’ll go to her dad’s. She’ll be like, ‘Dad’s the best! He has it all figured out. He doesn’t have a nanny, he doesn’t have a chef, he doesn’t have security, he lives in an apartment,’” she vented to sister Kourtney Kardashian during the latest episode of the Disney+ reality series, which dropped on 2 November. “And she’ll start crying: ‘Why don’t you have an apartment? I can’t believe we don’t have an apartment!’”
This comes one week after Kim claimed her children’s “struggles” have more to do with one-on-one mum time and “nothing to do” with the amount of help she hires. “Obviously, having nannies and a chef to help cook is beyond helpful,” she said, per People. “It takes a village to raise kids, but at the end of the day, your kids only want you.” Even so, it’s clear in latest episode that her daughter’s statements upset her.
Kourtney Kardashian could relate, telling her younger sister that her own children—Mason, 13, Penelope, 11, and Reign, 8—say the same thing about her ex Scott Disick. “They do that at Scott’s too,” Kourtney said. “Like, ‘Dad has the best house, your house sucks. He has the best house, it’s not super big, the vibe’s better.’ I feel like everything falls on the parent that’s more involved.”
In a joint confessional, the pair spoke further about their “different” approaches to parenting. “I think I have a more gentle approach with my kids,” Kourtney said, per InStyle. “I find, with my kids, that coming from a more loving approach works best.”
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian says she appreciates a “tough love” approach, though she admitted she gets “frazzled” during disagreements with her children on subjects like bedtime. Still, despite the sisters’ passionate disagreements, Kim says Kourtney’s the first one she goes to for parenting advice. “No matter what, like she’d drop anything for us to have parenting advice,” Kim added. “I don’t care what kind of fight we’re in. She knows the kind of shit that I’d be going through, I can understand the kind of shit she’d be going through, and that’s how our relationship has always been.”
