Sinners is an upcoming American period supernatural horror film written, produced, and directed by Ryan Coogler. Set in the 1930s Jim Crow-era Southern United States, the film stars Michael B. Jordan in a dual role as twin brothers, Smoke and Stack, who return to their hometown seeking a fresh start but encounter a greater evil awaiting them. The narrative unfolds over a harrowing day in 1932 Mississippi, centering around a speakeasy where the brothers confront a sinister force. Hailee Steinfeld portrays a vampiric character, adding to the film’s supernatural elements. The ensemble cast includes Delroy Lindo, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, Li Jun Li, and Miles Caton. Coogler describes Sinners as a personal project inspired by his ancestral history, blending horror with social commentary. Sinners is scheduled for release in the United States on April 18, 2025.
