Years after Stanley Ipkiss threw the ancient mask into the river, believing he was free from its chaotic influence, strange disturbances begin to surface in Edge City once again. A mysterious new wearer has found the Mask — a troubled young artist struggling with inner demons. But this time, the Mask’s powers seem even more unstable, suggesting that Loki, the mischievous Norse god, is trying to fully break into the human world through the Mask. Stanley is reluctantly pulled back into action when Tina seeks his help after she becomes a target of the Mask’s new wearer, who unknowingly unleashes Loki’s spirit little by little each time the Mask is worn. To save their city (and possibly the world), Stanley must face the Mask one final time — but now, without the assistance of its powers. The climax leads to a surreal battle between Stanley, the new Mask bearer, and Loki himself manifesting through chaos — filled with reality-bending slapstick and visual madness. In the end, the Mask is finally sealed away in an ancient Norse artifact, but a twist ending hints that mischief is never truly over.
